1 Mile Walk 5K Run for Abilis at Tod’s Point

Abilis is a nonprofit organization that provides services and supports for over 800 individuals with special needs and their families from birth through the life span. Abilis has been a leader in providing state-of-the-art services for the special needs community in Lower Fairfield County for 70 years and has a long-standing reputation for high-quality care.

Abilis provides early intervention and customized therapies, as well as family education and advocacy to help individuals achieve important developmental milestones through our Therapeutic and Family Services programs. As individuals approach and enter adulthood, we provide a wide range of Life Services programs, including recreational activities, transition, and life skills support, job training, competitive and supported employment and a choice of residential options. Abilis Life Services programs are based at our Greenwich headquarters, while our Therapeutic and Family Services programs are centered in our Stamford office. The team manages 40 residential facilities in Greenwich and Stamford and works with numerous schools, civic organizations, and other community partners to deliver programs to individuals and families when and where they need them most.

For the past 16 years the annual Walk/Run for Abilis has become a signature “friend-raising” and awareness-building event. Many of those who take part in the walk/run do so because they are inspired by the story of a friend or family member with a developmental disability.

This year Abilis announced that the 16th annual Walk/Run will take place on Sunday, October 17, 2021. The Walk/Run for Abilis is a 5K run or 1-mile accessible walk that you, your friends, family members, and co-workers can take part in at picturesque Tod’s Point. The Walk/Run for Abilis will allow you to connect to our Abilis community, get some exercise and raise critical funds for Abilis. Form teams, challenge one another, and share your videos and photos by sending them to walkrun@abilis.us and using the hashtags #Abilis #WalkRunForAbilis and #ILoveGreenwich. This year the funds raised from the 16th annual Walk/Run for Abilis will support new initiatives within Abilis that will support the over 800 individuals with special needs and their families from birth through their lifespan within lower Fairfield County.
